Frequently asked questions

Why is it called the book hippo?

It is called the Book Hippo because the hippocampus is the area of the brain that helps to convert short term memory into long term memory. The Book Hippo is a tool that helps you convert the information you have read into long term memory.

Why should i use the book hippo?

People read books in order to glean insights, expand their knowledge, and implement the information they learn to make positive change in their life. However, we can’t get all of this value from books if we can’t even remember what we read! Studies show that testing yourself is one of the most effective ways of retaining information. That’s why we created the Book Hippo – a tool that tests you on the books you have read so that you actually get long-lasting value from the time you spend reading,

how does it work?

When you finish a book, log in to the Book Hippo and test yourself! If you don’t get a passing score, we recommend going back to the areas of the book related to the questions you answered incorrectly to refresh yourself. If you do get a passing score, we recommend that you re-test yourself every so often (e.g. every few weeks) so that the information is more likely to be retained over the long term.
